As a child, I remember fearing going to the hospital or needing any medical procedures. Not feeling best, uncertainty, fear of unknown, new faces- all add up to anxiety. It didn't help that several times I had encounters with nurses on duty who had a cold approach, zero smiles,” get through the day” kind of attitude. I remember thinking to myself that if I ever become a nurse I want to display such warmth, positivity, care, understanding, compassion that an individual I care for will feel the best way possible physically and emotionally.
It’s during times of illness or needing extra help that we feel vulnerable- and kind, compassionate approach is what I believe in. In my 15-year nursing career, I have always followed this belief. I have worked in different settings (rehab, long-term care, homecare), but I fell in love with homecare in particular, because it fits with my passion to go Above and Beyond everyday. In such setting, people can pursue the best quality of life possible, and do things they love for as long as possible.
Above and Beyond is my dream company. It is unique because of its principal of going that extra mile at every visit to brighten someone’s day.
